Community Resource Worker

Supported Apartment Living Program

At New Directions, we offer services that contribute to the well being of children, youth, adults, families and their community. Supported Apartment Living Program, S.A.L. is one of the many programs offered by New Directions. S.A.L. is now accepting applications for Casual Support Workers to support individuals with a mental disability and/or mental health barriers. Successful applicants must have the following education, skills and abilities:

Experience working with people with disabilities and/or experience working with people who are in conflict with the justice system and/or experience working with people with mental health barriers
High School Diploma or equivalent
Have or be willing to obtain First Aid (Emergency Level)
Effective problem solving ability
Strong communication skills
The ability to work independently and as a part of a team
Have or be willing to obtain Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate
Knowledge of: FAS/FAE, Aspergers, Autism, Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Schizophrenia, Borderline Personalities are assets.

Job responsibilities include: supporting individuals through empowering them to engage in community living, independent living, promoting educational opportunities, recreational activities, and vocational opportunities.

Casual $11.69/hr up to $12.91/hr Full Time $13.56/hr up to $18.99/hr

Successful applicants will be subject to Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry Checks.
